Lanterns Mentoring Program |
|
Beginning in the fall of each new school year, volunteers are sought to serve on a planning committee for this event. Parents of RHAM juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to help coordinate Project Graduation. The program is staffed solely by volunteers; therefore, parent support and involvement in this program is of critical importance. High school students and faculty are also encouraged to assist. |
|
The Lanterns Mentoring Program serves children and families in our three communities. Volunteers are asked to commit one hour per week during the school day to serve as a role model to their mentees. Many children in our communities are eager to connect with adults who are willing to listen to them, share with them, and help them develop to their fullest potential. The program is not design to replace the role of parents or families. Mentoring is very effective in helping children staying in school, avoid dangerous behavior, and navigate the bumpy road to adulthood. |
Project Graduation |

This volunteer opportunity involves serving on a regional community task force to reduce and eliminate incidences of community violence and substance abuse among the general population. Parents, students, police officers, senior citizens, clergy, business leaders, other concerned citizens, and AHM staff join forces each year to coordinate and implement a wide range of activities. |

Throughout the past decade the annual AHM Telethon has proven to be a cost-effective and highly successful fundraiser for this grassroots community organization. Local residents, organizations, and businesses who contribute to the telethon do so with the understanding that these tax-deductible contributions remain within the community. There are no paid solicitors involved with this event. That is why the telethon is dependent upon the efforts of more than 100 students and adult volunteers. |
